Description
Benone Strand is a unique original painting by Kathryn Callaghan. The final piece created for her 2024 collection of Northern Ireland landscapes, Benone sees a moment of reflection, looking back from the peaceful Atlantic beach toward the tall, rocky cliffs shaggy with stubborn grass, the meandering train line that wanders along the coast, and Mussenden Temple, sat atop the hill gazing out to sea. Resplendent with seaside blues, bright yellows, and shining green reflections, Benone Strand is ideal to encourage a moment of tranquility in your home.
Completed in a classic, locally-built black frame with a white wooden inner mount, Benone Strand will fit perfectly with any tastes.
What makes an original Mussenden painting by Kathryn unique?
Kathryn uses a unique pouring technique to create her paintings, which creates a contact-free approach to making her artwork. ย Black ink is mixed with gel to create a new material which offers a new and unusual finish. ย The mix is poured from mid-air from an open neck bottle – much like pouring honey onto toast or olive oil onto bread. ย The finish is a textured, glossy image set against a smooth white board.
With no sketch underneath the painting, this freeform technique allows Kathryn to create truly original, organic pieces that are full of life and energy. ย The result is captivating and often evocative of how we feel about the subject in our minds. ย It is this ‘feeling’ that Kathryn strives to achieve through her work that gives it such resonance with collectors far and wide.
