What a busy couple of months it’s been in the studio!

Every year, Kathryn paints a collection of new “miniature” original paintings, featuring some of her favourite subjects – little birds, native wildlife, and more…

At the beginning of November, we hosted a gin reception here in Ballydrain to launch 2023’s collection. We were delighted to welcome so many of you to the studio to watch live demos, taste test our Mourne Dew Christmas Gin collaboration, and most importantly, feast your eyes on the new collection of artwork!

We’re so pleased with the reaction to the new paintings – we even sold one of our favourites on the night, and now three of them already have new homes! If you weren’t able to come down, don’t worry, we’ve been beavering away ever since to get them photographed and online for you to peruse…

Meet The Birds

Always a favourite subject, this peaceful flock was inspired by native visitors to Kathryn’s garden year round: the wintery robin I’m Home with his sprig of mistletoe, the bright-eyed goldfinch Sundown on his bristly thistle, the quirky blackbird Nesting with his beak full of straw, and Reflect, the peaceful robin taking a quiet moment to himself.

Beautiful Local Scenes

Inspired by the local scenery around her Ballydrain studio on the shores of Strangford Lough, these new landscapes are all inspired by adventures taken throughout 2023, from walking the dog at Killynether Wood to kayaking on Strangford Lough!

Bright Eyes and Bushy Tails

Northern Ireland is home to some incredible native species, from the smallest shrews to the largest stags. Kathryn has captured three of her favourites here: busy harvest mice, the mischievous red squirrel, and the ever-curious hedgehog.

All that and more!

Phew – but we’re still working away! A few of you asked us at our launch event if we’d be making this release into prints. To be honest, we weren’t sure, but ever since we’ve had even more questions, and having seen just how much you all love the new collection…
