Inspiration
This painting was inspired by a moment in Killarney when I had the chance to meet a little owl who perched on my shoulder like it was the most natural thing in the world. Iโd met other birds that day, each with their own presence and power, but this one had something different: a quiet confidence and an almost human kind of curiosity.
Maybe it was those huge, adorable eyes – wide and watchful, taking everything in – but I felt instantly smitten. There was no drama or fuss in them, just this steady, gentle intensity, like they were studying me as much as I was studying them.
With this piece, my intention was to capture that exact feeling: the softness and charm, but also the stillness and presence that made the encounter so unforgettable. Itโs a painting inspired by wonder… the kind that happens when nature lets you close for a second, and you walk away knowing youโve just met a little being youโll remember for years.
